What’s the Best Way to Distinguish Fake Products from Original Products Made-in-China?

In China, the quality of fake products could vary from poor to impressive, fake products can match the original products to very great extent… sometimes there is hardly any difference between the original except for the price tag and the way of selling it.. so many scandals happened of fake products being sold as originals.

Vivian Wu, PMP: Observe WHERE, WHO, HOW and HOW MUCH to sell them

Calvin Lee: Enlist the help of a professional.
Let’s take “fake money” for example; bank tellers are trained to spot fake ones. As for Gucci, LVMH bags, you can bet some women are the perfect detectors 🙂 As for fake smile … wait! ain’t no such thing. Everyone’s smile is genuine to the bone 😛

Jage Wang: The beat way to distinguish fake product made in China from original one is to look with peace.

Ge Wang: Might be irrelevant to this topic…but as far as my knowledge about luxurious handbags, the same model from a same brand might even have different details on their products in the US and in China… (so you don’t know which is the original design), and the price might be much higher in China.

Cocoy Gabriel: Trust is built. for an initial transaction it would be best to bring in an expert

Anders E Werneland (3000+): Don’t buy the shit. If you can’t afford the original buy something else. Show off is often seen as bad behavior. Don’t try to be someone you can’t.

马吉帝 Majdi Alhmah: Anders, I was buying Philips products from the Philips official agent and discovered that they have ‘Philips’ labels they stick on any product and sell it as Philips prices… if I didn’t know the big boss well, I will probably not return back.

Chenliang(Laughing) Jiang: Exactly, not only you foreigners but also us Chinese are in trouble with fake products, especially famous brand. For example, it took me almost 5000 RMB to buy about 150 pcs of Schneider switchgear panels, but finally, I found all of the sockets are fake.

Aimee Zhang: It might be a “true” one but not original one. There are many design houses and factories in China working for some big companies. These big companies stick their label and sell the “true” product in China to reduce the transportation costs. In telecommunication industry, this is very common.

Luigi 路易 Cormaci: It’s very hard to define Fake to original, even because what meaning original?
Today all most big companies are outsourcing their production, LV, Gucci ect. and in the same way Philippe, Schneider and so on.

It’s easy found on the market good products without brand and brad products with very poor quality, Very few companies own their production, this the only way to be competitive and alive on the market.

The only why it’s be smart, try to understand form where this product coming and work with trustable persons.
Good luck.

Babar Hussain: Once in Guangzhou I happened to meet one manufacturer who used to make copy of famous brand razors. I asked him the same question regarding the difference. He said the machines used by the real company are highly sophisticated, doesn’t leave any embossed or etched line where the rubbers on the handle meet. While the copy products manufacturers can’t afford that and always include embossed dirty line.

I guess every product has some tricks to judge, mostly shopkeepers and wholesalers know it. Like recently I learnt how to distinguish between real and copied iphone screens.

Jeffrey Tong: Sometimes the fakes are better quality than the original (trademarked product)… and less expensive too. Mobile phones are a good example.

Georgi Grancharov: At the end of the day, who really cares – if the quality of the stock is good, and the price is good, I don’t really care if I buy a perfect fake or the original. There are even fake razors in some big French supermarkets; they probably don’t know that they’re fake. It’s almost impossible to have a “I buy only the original” attitude when you live in China.

Justin ye: There are some cases I list as follows, maybe can let you know what the best way to distinguish the copy product and original product.
1. I even works in Sangfei which produce Philips mobile phone, and as I know, some guy pay money to get all the materials from the internal (not from me), include the molding material, PCBA material, etc. That time, I worked in the after sales department. and our team member found that some fake phones is very hard to recognize, till some day we found only one capacitor is difference. You know, in Sangfei we have a very good information system of all the phones, just like the IDs for them. even like that, we can’t find the difference, have to check every materials.
2. Now I’m in a small mobile phone company, and I know some of my friends also do the phones just the outlook is 100% copy the famous brand like Samsung, Nokia… like this kind of product, for me, it is very easy to recognize them from fake and original.
3. I always buy some cigarette from some small shop nearby my house and some time I was annoyed because they sale the fake goods to me, but I am not familiar with cigarettes, so I have to go another shop which can be trusted by me.

KwangErn Liew: Gets interesting when the same factory which makes the original also runs for fakes. 😉

Jeffrey Tong: That is why western capitalism has proven itself to be a failure! Capitalistic corporate oligarchies are causing widespread destruction of human lives, animal lives, plant life, and ultimately the destruction of the Earth itself. China needs to re-evolve into factory co-operatives where employees are the owners.

Kexue/Geoffrey Chen: The best way is the original product decrease their price and get the low profit, so that no body care about the price gap between the fake and original product.
