On April 15, 2012, Guangzhou, the capital city of south China’s Guangdong province, witnessed the opening of the 111th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) on the theme of “new starting point, new opportunities, new challenges”. Boasting an extensive exhibition zone of 1.16 million square meters as well as 59,434 exhibition booths, the gorgeous event that is usually held biannually every spring and autumn has drawn a total of 24,644 exhibitors both from home and abroad, 413 more when compared with the 100th Canton Fair. 58,546 booths have been allocated, 710 more when compared with the last session.
The spring session of the Canton Fair, a vital indicator of China’s trade and economic development, is regarded to be a valuable chance to spur the sluggish trade growth this year and boost exports for domestic foreign trade companies. Facing harsh foreign trade situation, the Chinese government has taken a series of measures such as assisting in solving financial difficulties of small and medium enterprises, stabilizing export tax rebate policy to ensure smooth foreign trade growth.
